Boogie on the Boulevard: Summer Sundays
Sundays, August 2, 9, & 16, 12:00pm to 4:00pm Celebrate summer in the Bronx with three pedestrian Sundays on the Grand Concourse between 161st and 167th Streets. The center lanes will be closed to cars and open to a world of fun, with free music, activities and programs hosted by art/cultural, civic, health organizations and artists.

Spoken Word 101
July 13, 20, 27; Final presentations August 2, 9, 16 Exploring the differences between performance and other types of poetry in eight free workshops, participants will have the opportunity to write and perform original poetry. Participants will find their own style and delivery under the guidance of spoken-word artist Bobby González. Through these writing workshops attendees will learn how to improve word choice and create more powerful imagery.
In addition to being taught meter and rhyme, participants will be shown how they can infuse their native tongue and urban vernacular in their poetry. The culminating event will be a public presentation in which the workshop participants will share their completed works with the community.

Wild Noise: Artwork from The Bronx Museum of the Arts and El Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes

This collaboration represents the most extensive visual arts exchange between Cuba and the United States in more than 50 years, and includes major exhibitions at MNBA and the Bronx Museum; an artist exchange with U.S. artist Mary Mattingly and Cuban artist Humberto Diaz; a teen exchange program; a series of educational and public programs; and the publication of a dual-language publication that will extend the impact of Wild Noise beyond the audiences that participate directly in the initiative.
