This is really a Duende Libre recording – invoking the challenges of the Flamenco twists of the actual meaning of what duende really means. It takes a whole book to describe by the only one who knew anything abbot – and that was Federico García Lorca The Invocation – it would seem – is to transfer the powers of the evocations and powers of duende into this music.
`The trio music that one would sometimes term Latin-Jazz. But what it really has if the unique character infused in it by the artistry brokered by the powerhouse pianist Alex Chadsey, bassist Farko Domusmov and drummer Jeff Busch – together calling themselves Duende Libre.
In its best manifestation – and the apogee of the album – tracks marked 5 and 6 Chick [Intro] and Chick. These evoke the mastery of the ghost of the mastery of Chick Corea, and his harmonic conceptions. Invocation goes better than the lexiconic sense of the word and one soon finds.

Mr Chadley is on song. He is virtuosic and sharp, brilliant to the infinite degree on many of the most knuckle-breaking music – works such as Ahmadlish. It is as if he has the chalice in his hands – better still, the holy grail, which is what all every aspirational composer aspirer to inn every one of his works when he or her comes into contact with his instrument.
It may seem to many that Mr Chadsey just doesn’t steer his ship despite his rather loud voice through the disc, The voices are all equally strong in keeping with the musicians are as powerful and expressive themselves with quiet dignity that befits the status in the band.
The bass and drums create the wall of architectural backdrop of that nature. One gets a sense that, geometrically speaking this trio is modelled along the lines of one of the most a complex groups – like that followed the by tantalizing designs style – in particular – the one of the one of he designer of Mauritz Escher. The programme appears shorter.
The exploration time that has she has given her patients to do is when their turn comes is staggering. At the end of the day this is a completely different Trio that has to be treated with special critical respect – on a completely different plane altogether. ‘Nuff said.
